Using the Graphical Interface to Compress and Decompress Files in Ubuntu Linux

This article talks about how to compress and decompress files using the graphical interface in Ubuntu Linux.

Most operations regarding compression and decompression are nearly the same as Windows. Simply right click on the file that you wish to compress and select the compress option from the drop-down.

Let’s compress the test2 folder as an example.

If we click on the compress button, a pop-up will show up, allowing you to choose the compression type as well as multiple other options.

In this example, we will be using the .zip compression format.

After the .zip file is successfully created, we can simply right click on it and select extract here to gain access to the compressed files.
